The SunCruz I is a 91-ton boat that carries about 140 gamblers on day cruises from its dock near the Holiday Inn at Mile Marker 100 in Key Largo in the Florida Keys. SunCruz I offers slots and the full array of table games (blackjack, craps, roulette, poker). It also offers a sports book enabling gamblers to bet on their favorite college or professional teams. The SunCruz I sails daily except Monday, with an evening cruise on Tuesday, three cruises on Wednesday, two cruises on Thursday and Friday, and three cruises on Saturday and Sunday. The Discovery Sun, built in 1968, has over the past decade carried more than four million people, many of them gamblers, on day trips between Port Everglades and Grand Bahama Island. Unlike other casino boats listed here, the Discovery Sun has more of the ambiance of a larger cruise ship. But it also has a Las Vegas-style casino that offers slots and a wide variety of table games. Discovery departs each morning (except some Wednesdays) from Port Everglades at 7:45 (you need to get their a couple hours earlier for boarding) and returns at 10 in the evening. Because the ship docks in the Bahamas, passengers are required to have with them the documents needed on a trip outside the United States. Contacting Discovery Cruise Line for the latest information is advised.

The SeaEscape (M/V Island Adventure) is a fully air-conditioned and stabilized 8-deck cruise vessel (gross tonnage: 15,400) with a capacity of 975 passengers that sails daily from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Built in 1976, the ship was most recently refurbished in 2000. The SeaEscape offers slot players more than 300 assorted real slots, video slots and video poker machines, ranging from five cents to $5.00. SeaEscape also has 25 blackjack tables, with minimum bets starting at $5 and maximum bets ranging up to $1,000; three roulette tables; two craps tables; and two mini-baccarat tables. It also has poker tables offering Caribbean Stud Poker, Let It Ride and Three-Card Poker. It sails seven days a week at 11 in the morning, returning at 4:30 in the afternoon. It also has evening cruises that sail at 7:30 Monday through Saturday and 6:30 on Sunday. Gamers interested in sailing on SeaEscape are encouraged to contact the line in advance for full information.

Aquasino Miami Beach   -   Website

Aquasino is a recently remodeled 228-foot yacht with a capacity of about 600 passengers that began sailing from the Miami Beach Marina, located off Alton Road, in the summer of 2007. Aquasino has more than 200 assorted slots and 22 blackjack tables. It also offers craps, roulette, Let It Ride, Baccarat and Three Card Poker. Aquasino also has a poker room, and a Sports Book. It departs at 7:30 evenings Wednesday through Sunday, and has morning cruises departing at 11 am on Saturday and Sunday as well. The line said it expects to have more cruises and departure times available very soon, and we would recommend reconfirming sailing times with Aquasino before making final plans. Reservations are recommended, and tickets on all sailings are priced at $40, which includes self-parking, port tax, buffet and one cocktail. A variety of deals that can bring the cruise price down seem to be available on various websites.

 

Horizon's Edge   -   Website

Horizon's Edge is a relatively new gaming ship With a capacity of about 500 passengers that sails daily from Bayfront Park, which is adjacent to Bayside Marketplace next to (but not inside) the Port of Miami. The 186-foot-long vessel offers slot players more than 225 assorted slots and also has 11 gaming tables. It sails seven days a week departing at noon, returning at 5 in the afternoon. It also has evening cruises that sail at 7:30, returning at 12:30 am Sunday through Thursday and 1 am on Friday and Saturday evening sailings. Reservations are not required for parties under 15 patrons. Tickets on all sailings are priced at $19.95, which includes port tax, buffet and entertainment.

Carnival Cruise Lines   -   Website
Carnival Cruise Lines, a member of the World’s Leading Cruise Lines, is by far the largest cruise line, currently with 22 ships, and its casinos are among the largest on the high seas. In addition to blackjack, they offer roulette, craps, Caribbean stud poker, Caribbean draw poker, three-card poker and of course slots.

For serious players, Carnival casinos offer blackjack tables with a $25 minimum and $500 maximum. The higher minimum (Carnival also offers tables with $5 and $10 minimums) tends to produce a more consistent level of play. Carnival says it also is willing to make higher maximums available for players who obtain approval prior to sailing. The blackjack dealer in Carnival casinos also stands on soft 17, which is consistent with casino rules in Las Vegas and more favorable to the player than the policy of requiring the dealer to hit soft 17 as is found on some other cruise lines.

Carnival also offers craps with double odds (many cruise lines offer only single odds) with a pass line minimum of $5 and maximum of $200, and again is willing to make higher maximums available for players who obtain approval prior to sailing.
